"I chose Duke almost as soon as I stepped on campus. I came to Duke for Prospect Camp, and committed to play baseball for the university on the spot when offered an athletic scholarship while I was here. The opportunity to learn at a world renowned university, while playing in the best baseball conference in the country, was an opportunity that I could not pass up.
During my junior year I was struck in the head with a line drive while playing a game against Columbia University. The ball fractured the temporal bone in my skull and left me with a severe concussion, along with initial total hearing loss in my right ear. It took about five weeks before I was cleared by physical therapists to begin “fast-walking” and the rest of my rehabilitation. Although I was done with baseball for the year, the outstanding faculty and athletic support team at Duke helped to ensure that I made a full recovery, while also completing my coursework that semester.
I truly believe that Duke University is the best university in the world. There is no other institution that facilitates learning, extracurricular activities and opportunities for personal growth like Duke does. During my time at Duke I have had the opportunity to create a club, play in front of thousands of fans in the ACC and serve on a panel with faculty and administrators from a variety of departments. The memories and connections made at Duke will last a lifetime.
I majored in Economics with a minor in Sociology while an undergrad at Duke. Now, I am studying to get a Master’s of Management Studies from the Fuqua School of Business, and upon graduation in May am looking to pursue a career in corporate strategy.
I am extremely grateful for the opportunities afforded by the generous support of Iron Dukes members."
